Father's
Day Poems & QuotesDear father, you are not
too old
An old man you are,
not that old as everyone thinks.
Hair turned gray and sparse; it’s just a color;
loss of strands that credits mom’s hairsplitting antics.
I knew your vigor and vitality, again concerning girls,
a tough competition to me in my younger days.
I am sure you are able, spot the younger ones from older.
Maybe your skin got some more wrinkles;
forget them, a breeze, and extra folds for extra data.
One thing I admire is your crown, that tops,
always held higher, the back though just bent,
a humbler postural (posterior) defense in martial arts,
but never stooped low to the floor at bucket level.
I love you as always, for being a model,
without your jeans I wouldn’t have made this far,
got the hypertension, spare tyres, sweet teeth
and the familiar itch for ‘one for the road’,
though holed up for many years,
truly confirm you as my real father,
I acknowledge on this Happy Father’s Day,
minus mom’s presence (permission) of course,
And I do hope you say thanks sooner before you forget.
With best wishes, your loving son (soon to be a
grandfather like you)
